Based on RASIT’s Founder President, HRH Prince Mohammad Bin King Faisal (I) El-Hashemite, collective data on gender and
science education and employment, and social- and political- issues concerning women advancement and empowerment
worldwide; The Women in Science International League was signed into being in 1998 as an independent international Program of
The League is dedicated to promoting excellence in education and science, and plays an influential role in regional and
international higher education policy and supports developments Women in Science in a wide range of ways.
The achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly 4, 5 and 17, to ensure gender
equality and women empowerment in science through developing partnership for development to realize the women in science
rights to the highest attainable standard of education and employment in the years to 2030 and beyond.
Supporting members and partner organizations to align their strategic directions and catalyze collective action to achieve full
participation of women in science in Decision Making and Sustainable Development Programs; and access to comprehensive,
high-quality education, equal employment opportunities and promotion, with a clear consideration for the different needs of
different societies and cultures.
To be an institutional platform bringing together and enhancing the interaction of members and partners focused on improving the
situation of women in science, working across science, technology, and medicine education, research and industry. In essence,
the partnership with the League enables members to share strategies, align objectives and resources, and agree on interventions
to achieve more together than they would have been able to achieve individually.
RASIT’s Executive Board governs the League. The League is administered by an independent Secretariat elected from the
League’s members, and undertakes the day-to-day administration of the League's work plan.
